Curious facts about the Sagrada Família

The Sagrada Família Basilica is probably the most famous unfinished building in the world. Construction began in March 1882. Although we associate it with Antoni Gaudí, the project was started by Francisco de Paula del Villar; a year later Gaudí took over, devoting himself exclusively to the temple from 1914 until his death.

It is expected to be finished in 2026, coinciding with the centenary of Gaudí's death, with the 172.5-metre central tower dedicated to Jesus Christ, which would make it the tallest building in Barcelona.
